DESCRIPTION:The course was designed for personnel working in\, on and around the water\, such as County Council\, waterways management\, port and harbour personnel\, bridge and waterside infrastructure engineers and contractors.  \nThe course is based on information taken from ‘The Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seafarers’ and The IMO STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities Course. \nDuration 1day. \nCourse Size: Minimum 6 candidates. \nThe course can be delivered at our training centre or customer site. \nCourse content. \nDiscussion on the hazards peculiar to to the candidates work environment. \nAppraise – Plan – Execute – Monitor. \nChoosing the right PPE for the job. \nUse of the PPE \nBouyancy aids\, Lifejackets and flotation Devices. \nThe Hazards: Cold water shock – Fast flowing water – Stagnant water – Enclosed spaces – Wildlife – Vermin – Other works\, etc. \nSafety Lines & Harness. \nRigging safe access and egress to the water or work area. \nFail safe rigging systems and how to deploy same. \nSafe exit from the water \nSafe entry to the water. \nWading techniques\, checking the ground. \nEnclosed Spaces. \nRemote Site. \nTeam working and third party communications. \nEmergency actions. \nMARPOL and the avoidance of marine pollution. \n

DESCRIPTION:This course covers the entire syllabus of the STCW Able Seafarer Deck Certificate Course – EDH – and is aimed at seafarers and prospective seafarers who through the lack of suitable valid sea-time and/or a watch-rating certificate can not qualify with a flag state approved certificate. \nThe candidate follow’s the full syllabus and exam. and on successful completion have learned all the skills and techniques taught on the STCW AB Deck Course. This gives the candidate and their prospective employer confidence that they will be a competent and safe addition to the crew and will have the opportunity to grow their knowledge with a view to attaining full STCW certification.
