DESCRIPTION:Aims\n\nThe course aims to provide the training for candidates in fire prevention and fire fighting in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of the STCW code. \n\nObjective\n\nThis syllabus covers the requirements of the 1995 STCW Convention Chapter VI\, Section A-VI/1\, paragraph 2 and Table A-VI/1-2. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in fire prevention and firefighting\, a trainee will be competent to take appropriate measures for the safety of personnel and of the ship and to use fire appliances correctly. The trainee will also have a knowledge of fire prevention. \n\nEntry Standards\n\nThe course is open to all seafarers and prospective seafarers and should be completed prior to employment on a sea-going ship. All trainees must be in good health. \n\nCourse Certificate\n\nOn successful completion of the course and demonstration of competence\, a certificate will be issued certifying that the holder has met the standard of competence specified in Table A-VI/1-2 of STCW 1995.

DESCRIPTION:This 18 hr or 3-day course is targeted at staff and business owners alike. It is a Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) approved training course and is highly interactive. DESCRIPTION:Aims\n\nThe course aims to provide the training for candidates in fire prevention and fire fighting in accordance with Section A-VI/1 of the STCW code. \n\nObjective\n\nThis syllabus covers the requirements of the 1995 STCW Convention Chapter VI\, Section A-VI/1\, paragraph 2 and Table A-VI/1-2. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in fire prevention and firefighting\, a trainee will be competent to take appropriate measures for the safety of personnel and of the ship and to use fire appliances correctly. The trainee will also have a knowledge of fire prevention. \n\nEntry Standards\n\nThe course is open to all seafarers and prospective seafarers and should be completed prior to employment on a sea-going ship. All trainees must be in good health. \n\nCourse Certificate\n\nOn successful completion of the course and demonstration of competence\, a certificate will be issued certifying that the holder has met the standard of competence specified in Table A-VI/1-2 of STCW 1995.

DESCRIPTION:About the AEC 1 Course\nThe aim of the Approved Engine Course 1 is to provide a basic theoretical and practical\nunderstanding of marine engines\, their operation\, basic maintenance\, along with care and\nrespect towards others and the environment.\nThe course meets the requirements of the MCA Small Commercial Vessel Code\, Large Vessel\nCode and Workboat Code giving the basic training to engineer officers who want to further\ntheir careers on “small vessels” (Fishing Vessels\, Yachts\, Tugs\, Workboats\, Standby\, Seismic\nSurvey\, Oceanographic Research Vessels and Government Patrol Vessels). The full MCA AEC 1\nsyllabus is available on the MCA website.\nWith increasing power to weight ratios and sophisticated control systems\, knowing how to\noperate engines safely and within their parameters\, has never been more important. A good\nworking knowledge of an engines makeup\, associated systems and its correct operation is vital.\nCorrectly tightening up a nut and bolt to changing a fuel filter are all equally important tasks. The\nskills gained will help with regular servicing and preventative maintenance tasks. With this\nimproved engine confidence\, earlier fault recognition and increased longevity from the plant\nfollows. This course will emphasise best practices throughout\, safely.\nDelivery is from marine going personnel with extensive time spent on the water. There is no\nsubstitute for experience and here at The Seamanship Centre\, all our instructors are time served\nprofessionals.
