The course was designed for personnel working in, on and around the water, such as County Council, waterways management, port and harbour personnel, bridge and waterside infrastructure engineers and contractors.
The course is based on information taken from ‘The Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seafarers’ and The IMO STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities Course.
Duration 1day.
Course Size: Minimum 6 candidates.
The course can be delivered at our training centre or customer site.
Course content.
Discussion on the hazards peculiar to to the candidates work environment.
Appraise – Plan – Execute – Monitor.
Choosing the right PPE for the job.
Use of the PPE
Bouyancy aids, Lifejackets and flotation Devices.
The Hazards: Cold water shock – Fast flowing water – Stagnant water – Enclosed spaces – Wildlife – Vermin – Other works, etc.
Safety Lines & Harness.
Rigging safe access and egress to the water or work area.
Fail safe rigging systems and how to deploy same.
Safe exit from the water
Safe entry to the water.
Wading techniques, checking the ground.
Enclosed Spaces.
Remote Site.
Team working and third party communications.
Emergency actions.
