SUMMARY:STCW Personal Survival Techniques
DESCRIPTION:This course is physically demanding. Candidates must be physically fit and meet the standard entry requirements for entry into the Merchant Navy. \nThe course follows a standard programme. The course delivers a basic knowledge and practice of survival techniques and principles that can be applied to maximise the probability of survival following a marine casualty. \nThe course will address the following: \n\nActions prior to abandonment of the vessel\nBasic principles of survival\nTypes of survival equipment provided on board ships\nTraining and drills\nCorrect use of the lifejacket and entering the water from a height\nLaunching of a liferaft.\nRighting of a capsized liferaft\nWet and dry boarding of a liferaft\nBringing aboard an injured casualty\nHypothermia and other medical factors\nLiferaft first aid\nLiferaft equipment\nActions to aid location by rescuers\n\nTraining is delivered through a combination of theory and practical sessions. \nCourse duration is one day. \nThis course is normally run on a Tuesday and is day 2 of a 4 day STCW Basic Safety Courses programme \n\nMonday: STCW Elementary First Aid.\nTuesday: STCW Personal Survival Techniques.\nWednesday: STCW Personal Safety & Social Responsibilities.\nThursday: STCW Ship Security Awareness.\n\nThe above courses are mandatory for all seafarers in all roles aboard and must renewed every 5 years.\n			\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				\n					\n					\n						Location: This course will be held at.
